All courses take place at our Training Centre in Lac La Biche, Alberta unless otherwise specified. 


Advanced RPAS Ground School – Drone Pilot Training Course | Aug 13-16, 2024 | $1500

Instructed by Volterra Drone Solutions, the Advanced RPAS Ground school offers an immersive In-person drone pilot training course that surpasses Transport Canada's minimum required hours. This course offers 40 hours of in-class and practical training spread through 4 10-hour days and focuses on your agencies specific needs. This course also includes an Advanced RPAS Flight Review and ROC-A certification. With this comprehensive course, your pilots will be operationally certified for Advanced Operations with drones.

Community Peace Officer Induction Program (CPOIP) | Aug. 19 – Nov. 7, 2024 | $10,399 (includes accommodations)

This intensive 12-week program covers a wide variety of training including: legal studies, physical fitness, strategic communication, use of force training, shotgun training, RADAR/LiDAR training, and the Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC). This program is accredited by Alberta Public Safety and Emergency Services. 

This program is open to both self-funded students, and students who are employed by a municipality. Training is conducted 10-hours per day, 4-days per week. The cost of the program includes accommodations, thanks to our partner Portage College.

PARE Testing | August 19, 2024 | $85

The Physical Ability Requirement Evaluation assesses an individual's physical fitness and capabilities for work in the Law Enforcement field. It measures strength, endurance, agility, and overall fitness to determine if someone meets the necessary standards for the physically demanding job.

Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) | Oct. 14-18, 2024 | $850

Students will learn about vehicle capacity, principles of emergency response, and more. All students must attend in full uniform with operational equipment and bring a patrol vehicle equipped with emergency equipment. This course will include 1 day of lecture and 4 days of track time. Night driving will be on day 4 of the course. This course is approved by Alberta Public Safety and Emergency Services.

Incident Command System 200 (ICS-200) | Oct. 19-20, 2024 | FREE!

ICS-100 is required and available online at https://www.icscanada.ca/en/links.html. ICS-200 is an awareness level training course. It is intended for personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory ICS position and focuses on the management of single resources.

The online ICS-200 course is not recognized by ICS Canada as it does not include the requisite group activities. If you continue your ICS training to ICS-300 and higher, you must complete ICS-200 in-class.

RADAR/LiDAR Operators Course | Oct. 21-23, 2024 | $350

Students will learn the basics of operating RADAR and LiDAR for speed measurements. All students must attend in full uniform with operational equipment, bring a patrol vehicle equipped with RADAR, and a handheld RADAR/LiDAR.

Shotgun Operators Course | Oct. 28-31, 2024 | $675

Students will learn how to safely handle and discharge a shotgun in a work setting. Students will learn about reporting requirements, legal considerations, and more. Students must be an appointed Peace Officer to attend.

Shotgun Operators Recertification Course | Oct. 30-31, 2024 | $440

Students will review how to safely handle and discharge a shotgun in a work setting. Students will learn about reporting requirements, legal considerations, and more. Students must be an appointed Peace Officer and have completed an operators course within 12 months.

Advanced Incident Command System 400 (ICS-400) | Nov. 13-15, 2024 | FREE

ICS-300 in person class is required. Advanced Incident Command System, ICS-400 is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently in the advanced application of the Incident Command System (ICS). 

ICS-400 provides training for senior personnel who are expected to perform in a management capacity in a complex incident environment.

Methods of Instruction | No. 22-26, 2024 | $1150

Location: PSES Training Academy, Edmonton

This course is delivered by Chris Butler, a retired 34 year veteran in law enforcement. This course will teach the law enforcement instructor science based principles that pertain to providing high quality instruction. This course will promote changes in delivery and teaching techniques for agencies.

This course will be held at the Public Safety and Emergency Services Training Academy in Edmonton.

Dangerous Goods on Highway Inspector | Nov. 26-28, 2024 | FREE

This course is designed to prepare Peace/Police Officer to enforce Dangerous Goods transportation and Handling Acts and Regulations. By the end of the course you will understand the authority to conduct on-road enforcement, enforcement procedures, you will know how to identify DG violations, and understand how to safely respond to DG emergencies.

Use of Force for Investigators | Dec. 4-6, 2024 | $700
Location: Edmonton, Alberta

To ensure officers and agencies are afforded with the most thorough, professional, objective, fact-finding investigations possible, an investigator must have a basic understanding of the fundamental issues relating to use of force principles. This course will cover critical principles include biomechanics, human movement, perception and attention issues, decision making and decision errors, and more.

This course will be held at the Public Safety and Emergency Services Training Academy in Edmonton.

Cargo Securement Enforcement | Dec. 9-12, 2024 | $600

This course will provide Peace Officers with the knowledge and experience required to effectively enforce cargo securement legislation for both passenger and commercial vehicles. Participants will have the opportunity to go through all applicable legislation, work together on real-life exercises, and partake in a live compliance check for the practical portion, to prove competencies and put together all the information learned in class.

This course is accredited by Alberta Public Safety and Emergency Services.
