Shotgun Operators Course | May 13-16, 2024 | $585

Students will learn how to safely handle and discharge a shotgun in a work setting. Students will learn about reporting requirements, legal considerations, and more. Students must be appointed Peace Officers to attend.

Shotgun Operators Recertification Course | May 15-16, 2024 | $400

Students will review how to safely handle and discharge a shotgun in a work setting. Students will learn about reporting requirements, legal considerations, and more. Students must be appointed Peace Officers and have completed operators courses within 12 months.

Peace Officer Quad Course | May 18, 2024 | $175 (If using own quad) / $350 (If using quad provided)

This course will cover general maintenance and driver handling of a Quad to the rider. Upon successful completion the rider will be issued a certificate required by most employers for utilizing a quad within their agency.

PARE Testing | May 21, 2024 | $85

The Physical Ability Requirement Evaluation assesses an individual's physical fitness and capabilities for work in the Law Enforcement field. It measures strength, endurance, agility, and overall fitness to determine if someone meets the necessary standards for the physically demanding job.

TPR Recertification with OC | Jun. 4-6, 2024 | $300 - COURSE FULL

This 3-day recertification course is open to current Law Enforcement who are trained in TPR and Sabre OC Spray and looking to complete their annual recertification. Developed by Human Factor Research Group, TPR is a well-known and recognized course designed to teach officers basic use-of-force skills that can be applied in high stress situations.

Intermediate Incident Command System 300 (ICS-300) | Jun. 7-9, 2024 | FREE

ICS-200 in person class is required. Intermediate Incident Command System, ICS-300 defines the unique qualities of ICS as an event or incident management system in an expanding situation. The course units and lessons provide a review of ICS fundamentals, assessing incidents and setting objectives, Unified Command, Resource Management, the planning process, demobilization, transfer and termination of command of an incident.

Setcan’s Principle Based Subject Control Instructor | Jun. 10-14, 2024 | $1700

Location: PSES Training Academy, Edmonton

Setcan’s Principle Based Subject Control System is based off years of research to identify the most common responses by officers along with developing flexible solutions to dynamic encounters. 

This program is based on principles that can be applied in an unlimited manner, while still falling within operating guidelines of justified force. This 5-day course (evening work required) will cover the full spectrum of Empty Hand Tactics and provide the skills necessary for instructors to facilitate training courses for law enforcement officers.

Registrants should be experienced and active law enforcement officers, ideally with prior control tactics instructor experience. This is a dynamic and physically active course.

Commercial Vehicle Weights and Dimensions | June 17-21, 2024 | $675

The Commercial Vehicle Weights and Dimensions course is an intensive five-day course. This course will provide Peace Officers with the knowledge and experience required to effectively enforce Commercial Vehicle Weights and Dimensions legislation. Participants will have the opportunity to go through all applicable legislation, work together on real-life exercises, and partake in a live compliance check for the practical portion, to prove competencies and put together all the information learned in class.

This course is accredited by Alberta Public Safety and Emergency Services.

Simunition Scenario Instructor and Safety Monitoring Course | June 17-18, 2024 | $900

Location: Milbourne Mall, Edmonton

This informative, two-day course is designed to provide students with substantial hands-on experience with Simunition® FX® training ammunition technology, weapons conversion kits, and the Simunition® line of protective equipment. 

Additionally, this course will provide in-depth, hands-on instruction in scenario-based training program development and training methodology. It will present practical experience to students on the best use of Simunition® training products in a highly-effective, realistic, extremely safe training program

Threat Pattern Recognition (TPR/PPCT) Instructor | Jun. 24-28, 2024 | $900

Location: NAIT, Edmonton

This 5-day instructor course is open to current, experienced law enforcement and security individuals who are already trained in TPR /PPCT basic course and looking to complete their instructor certification to be able to certify/recertify others in the basic course. We are also offering a 3-day recertification of the instructor course, simultaneously.

Developed by Human Factor Research Group, TPR/PPCT is a well-known and recognized course designed to teach officers basic use-of-force skills that can be applied in high stress situations. 

Everyone who completes this course will be registered with Alberta Justice as having completed the Canadian version of the instructor course. This will allow all successful attendees to teach the new, accredited, Canadian version of the TPR/PPCT basic course.

Cargo Securement Enforcement | July 8-11, 2024 | $600

This course will provide Peace Officers with the knowledge and experience required to effectively enforce cargo securement legislation for both passenger and commercial vehicles. Participants will have the opportunity to go through all applicable legislation, work together on real-life exercises, and partake in a live compliance check for the practical portion, to prove competencies and put together all the information learned in class.

Community Peace Officer Induction Program (CPOIP) | Aug. 19 – Nov. 7, 2024 | $10,399 (includes accommodations)

This intensive 12-week program covers a wide variety of training including: legal studies, physical fitness, strategic communication, use of force training, shotgun training, RADAR/LiDAR training, and the Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC). This program is accredited by Alberta Public Safety and Emergency Services. 

This program is open to both self-funded students, and students who are employed by a municipality. Training is conducted 10-hours per day, 4-days per week. The cost of the program includes accommodations, thanks to our partner Portage College.

Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) | Oct. 14-18, 2024 | $850

Students will learn about vehicle capacity, principles of emergency response, and more. All students must attend in full uniform with operational equipment and bring a patrol vehicle equipped with emergency equipment. This course will include 1 day of lecture and 4 days of track time. Night driving will be on day 4 of the course. This course is approved by Alberta Public Safety and Emergency Services.

RADAR/LiDAR Operators Course | Oct. 21-23, 2024 | $350

Students will learn the basics of operating RADAR and LiDAR for speed measurements. All students must attend in full uniform with operational equipment, bring a patrol vehicle equipped with RADAR, and a handheld RADAR/LiDAR.

Advanced Incident Command System 400 (ICS-400) | Nov. 13-15, 2024 | FREE

ICS-300 in person class is required. Advanced Incident Command System, ICS-400 is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently in the advanced application of the Incident Command System (ICS). 

ICS-400 provides training for senior personnel who are expected to perform in a management capacity in a complex incident environment.

Methods of Instruction | No. 22-26, 2024 | $1150

Location: PSES Training Academy, Edmonton

This course is delivered by Chris Butler, a retired 34 year veteran in law enforcement. This course will teach the law enforcement instructor science based principles that pertain to providing high quality instruction. This course will promote changes in delivery and teaching techniques for agencies.

This course will be held at the Public Safety and Emergency Services Training Academy in Edmonton.

Dangerous Goods on Highway Inspector | Nov. 26-28, 2024 | FREE

This course is designed to prepare Peace/Police Officer to enforce Dangerous Goods transportation and Handling Acts and Regulations. By the end of the course you will understand the authority to conduct on-road enforcement, enforcement procedures, you will know how to identify DG violations, and understand how to safely respond to DG emergencies.

Use of Force for Investigators | Dec. 4-6, 2024 | $700
Location: Edmonton, Alberta

To ensure officers and agencies are afforded with the most thorough, professional, objective, fact-finding investigations possible, an investigator must have a basic understanding of the fundamental issues relating to use of force principles. This course will cover critical principles include biomechanics, human movement, perception and attention issues, decision making and decision errors, and more.
