The Physical Ability Requirement Evaluation assesses an individual's physical fitness and capabilities for work in the Law Enforcement field. It measures strength, endurance, agility, and overall fitness to determine if someone meets the necessary standards for the physically demanding job.

Emergency Vehicle Operators Course | March 16 - 20, 2025 | $950
Students will learn about vehicle capacity, principles of emergency response, and more. All students must attend in full uniform with operational equipment and bring a patrol vehicle equipped with emergency equipment. This course will include one day of lecture and four days of track time. Night driving will be on day four of the course.

Dog Behaviour and Handling Course | March 28, 2025 | $350
Dog Behavior & Handling Course offered by Edmonton Animal Control is a comprehensive exploration into canine behaviour, responsible dog ownership and effective handling techniques. Spanning a full day, the course covers a wide array of topics essential for anyone working with or encountering dogs in their professional capacity.
Participants will engage in discussions on understanding dog behaviour, ensuring a safe environment through personal protective equipment and disease prevention measures, and familiarizing themselves with common complaints encountered in the field. Additionally, hands-on sessions provide practical experience in dog behaviour assessment and capture techniques, equipping attendees with valuable skills for handling various situations.

Boating Safety Enforcement Officer Training | April 4, 2025 | FREE
Transport Canada’ s one-day enforcement officer training course. This course will cover the legislation for recreational boating found in the Canada Shipping Act, 2001, and its regulations. The primary objectives of this course are to familiarize officers with the reference manual Transport Canada has created for enforcement officers, and to go over in detail the enforcement officer ’ s authorities to conduct inspections and enforce the regulations. No prior boating knowledge or experience is required.

Incident Command System 200 (ICS-200) | April 11 & 12, 2025 | FREE
ICS-200 is an awareness level training course designed to prepare students for roles that they may take on during an emergency.
If you intend to continue your ICS training to ICS-300 and higher, you must complete ICS-200 in-class. To take this program you must have completed your ICS-100 which is available at the following link: https://www.icscanada.ca/en/links.html

Peace Officer Quad Course Qualification | May 2, 2025 | $175 with own quad, or $350 with quad provided
This course will cover general maintenance and safe handling of a Quad. Upon successful completion the rider will be issued a certificate required by most employers for utilizing a quad within their agency.

RADAR/LiDAR Operators Course | May 6 - 8, 2025 | $425
Students will learn the basics of operating RADAR and LiDAR for speed measurements. All students must attend in full uniform with operational equipment, bring a patrol vehicle equipped with RADAR, and a handheld RADAR/LiDAR.

Law Enforcement Bike Association (LEBA) Level C | May 9 - 10, 2025 | $500
In partnership with the University of Alberta Protective Services, LEBA Level C course is designed to prepare law enforcement professionals to conduct bike patrol operations. This course is available to any Peace Officer or Security professionals.
Participants must provide a bike in working condition (mountain bike recommended). Participants should also be prepared to bike long distances during the course.

Shotgun Operators Course | May 12 - 15, 2025 | $680
Students will learn how to safely handle and discharge a shotgun in a work setting. Students will learn about reporting requirements, legal considerations, and more. Students must be an appointed Peace Officer to attend.

Methods of Instruction | June 9 - 13, 2025 | $1,500
Location: Calgary, AB
This course is delivered by Chris Butler, a retired 34-year veteran in law enforcement. This course will teach the law enforcement instructor science-based principles that pertain to providing high-quality instruction. Intermediate Incident Command System (ICS-300) | June 10-12, 2025 | FREE
ICS-300 defines the unique qualities that are required during emergencies and expanding situations/emergencies. The course units and lessons provide a review of ICS fundamentals, assessing incidents and setting objectives, Unified Command, Resource Management, the planning process, demobilization, transfer and termination of command of an incident.
All students are required to complete an in-person ICS-200 a minimum of six months prior to taking this program. Register by emailing training@laclabichecounty.com.
Commercial Vehicle Weights and Dimensions | June 18-22, 2025 | $775
Commercial Vehicle Weights & Dimensions is an intensive five-day course. This course will provide Peace Officers the knowledge and experience required to effectively enforce Commercial Vehicle Weights & Dimensions legislation. Participants will have the opportunity to go through all applicable legislation, work together on real-life exercises, and partake in a live compliance check for the practical portion, to prove competencies and put together all the information learned in class.

Advanced RPAS Ground School (Drone Pilot Training Course) | June 23-26, 2025 | $1,500
Instructed by Volterra Drone Solutions, the Advanced RPAS Ground School offers an immersive In-person drone pilot training course that surpasses Transport Canada's minimum required hours.
This course offers 40 hours of in-class and practical training spread through four 10-hour days, and focuses on your agencies' specific needs. This course also includes an Advanced RPAS Flight Review and ROC-A certification. With this comprehensive course, your pilots will be operationally certified for Advanced Operations with drones.

Cargo Securement Enforcement | July 15-18, 2025 | $700
This course will provide Peace Officers with the knowledge and experience required to effectively enforce cargo securement legislation for both passenger and commercial vehicles. Participants will have the opportunity to go through all applicable legislation, work together on real-life exercises, and partake in a live compliance check for the practical portion, to prove competencies and put together all the information learned in class.

Community Peace Officer Induction Program (CPOIP) #08 | Aug 18 – Nov 07, 2025 | $10,399 (includes accommodations)
This intensive 12-week program covers a wide variety of training including: legal studies, physical fitness, strategic communication, use of force training, shotgun training, RADAR/LiDAR training, and the Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC). This program is accredited by Alberta Public Safety and Emergency Services.
This program is open to both self-funded students, and students who are employed by a municipality. Training is conducted 10-hours per day, 4-days per week. The cost of the program includes accommodations, thanks to our partner Portage College.

Use of Force for Investigators | Nov. 12 - 14, 2025 | $750
Location: Calgary, AB
To ensure officers and agencies are afforded with the most thorough, professional, objective, fact-finding investigations possible, an investigator must have a basic understanding of the fundamental issues relating to use of force principles. This course will cover critical principles include biomechanics, human movement, perception and attention issues, decision making and decision errors, and more.

Advanced Incident Command System (ICS-400) | Nov. 12-14, 2025 | FREE
ICS-400 is an advanced level of training within the Incident Command System, it is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently in the incident management team. It provides training for senior personnel who are expected to perform in a management capacity in a complex incident environment.
ICS-300 is a required pre-requisite and must be completed a minimum of six months prior to taking this program.
